Warning!
This is a bigger and more complex subject than many people may first anticipate. It’s actually quite nuanced…
I’ve spent quite a bit of time in this metaphysical arena, as my first two books show, but rather than trying to cover this question comprehensively in an article I want to throw a few ideas out there for people who are not members of the following cults:
Fundamentalist religionists (anything that isn’t Jayzus is demonic/the devil/Satanic/Luciferian)
Funda-materialists (anything beyond materialism is New Age fluff/pie in the sky/charlatanry/ungrounded/pseudoscience)
Red-pilled or black-pilled conspiritards who think anything metaphysical is “Luciferian,” Freemasonic, New Age, or what have you
Honestly, when you see it, it’s quite amazing how similar the above cult-like groups really are and how many things they have in common—usually starting with a basic lack of good humour and common human decency, as Robert Anton Wilson noted years ago.
A profound lack of perspective is something else they all share. More on all that in a future article though (see below). ;-)
I cop my fair share of abuse and insane/retarded feedback from these groups’ more aggressive and unsophisticated proselytisers and am familiar with how they operate—this ain’t my first rodeo. If you belong to any of them my work is not for you. (Try a few years of shadow work and dealing with your shit first!) 🙃
With that said, here’s a little bit pertaining to reincarnation dynamics—and I’ve already covered the “soul trap” meme in another article, so please don’t leave those types of asinine “Reincarnation is just an evil Archontic soul harvesting machine” type comments either. 🙄
Again, perspective is everything…
Facial Similarities?
David Wilcock documented in ‘The Synchronicity Key’ people who seem to be reincarnations of previous historical personalities - people with uncanny physical resemblances to each other. Obviously there’s more detail to it than that, but that’s a lead you could follow up if so inclined—there’s some interesting material there.
One mistake he did make though, was referencing research supposedly done with computers by Dr Jim Tucker which apparently provided startling analytical results, confirming the facial similarities. I emailed Jim myself, however, and found that the computer research never happened. Wilcock was mistaken:
Dr Tucker has never done studies on reincarnation cases using facial recognition software.
Similar features or medical problems can be carried over from a “past life”, though it seems to confuse some people as to why.
Understand: These things aren’t chosen in the way that a future life is chosen (when it is indeed consciously chosen).
Most of those physical carryovers are the result of unintegrated/unhealed etheric and emotional residue resulting from that soul not going deeper into the “levels” of the afterlife to heal and restore themselves. If they, for instance, remain earthbound and reincarnate too quickly or automatically (often into a nearby town or village, as Prof. Stevenson showed), they’re more likely to bring that etheric patterning with them (the gunshot or knife wound shows as a mole or birthmark in the new body, etc.).
For anyone unaware, Dr Stevenson single-handedly provided the most comprehensive scientific proof (or the closest thing to proof) of reincarnation the world has seen. His work was monumental. I don’t want to trot it out here.
Another example of carryover due to a soul remaining “stuck” in lower astral planes and not entering the healing realms of the afterlife proper is from the late afterlife explorer Bruce Moen, who found a previous incarnation of himself stuck in a dream-like state of tremendous agony, having died from a spear wound. Moen traced his rare medical condition back to this ancient wound, and it began resolving after he finished the soul retrieval and said soul/”past” self was welcomed into the appropriate afterlife realms. (More info on that and Moen’s other key insights in my second book.)
Welcome to nonlocality.
You’ve Got Options
To add some extra wrinkles around reincarnation dynamics, here’s a small taken-out-of-context but relevant passage from my second book (The Grand Illusion - Book 2):
As noted, a newly deceased soul does have the choice of whether or not to proceed directly into the afterlife or spirit world proper and move beyond the lesser astral planes. Seer Cyndi Dale summarises the options for the soul who chooses not to take the tunnel/wormhole into the spirit world as follows:
Become a ghost [and occupy astral frequencies closest to the earth’s space-time frequencies].
Remain in the third dimension and incarnate into another body.
Visit the black zone and then make a choice.
Go right to the white zone and plan for another life.
Immediately pass through the “wheel of life” and reincarnate.
Shift into any of the dimensions and remain there [free will shall be honoured].
Shift into the fourth dimension and then decide between tunnels.
(If anything above seems vague, the black and white “zones” mentioned above are clarified further in the book.)
This simple outline serves to (hopefully) make some sense of many seemingly contradictory systems of thought that state with relative certainty what exactly happens to the newly deceased. It appears, quite simply, that there are a number of options available to a soul (Robert Monroe’s explorations also confirmed this), and re-entry into the “spirit world” proper is not necessarily a prerequisite for reincarnating.
There are consequences though:
“Those who enter the [aforementioned] zones instead of the tunnels, lack the healing of the Planes. Future choices will usually reflect the worst circumstances of the just-completed life. For instance, a soul killed in a concentration camp might immediately enter an abusive family…” [The patterns need healing.]
This last—somewhat disconcerting—point made by Dale seems to tie in with certain strains of Buddhist thought which appear to assert that souls, under certain conditions, can become automatically and unconsciously swept back into a new incarnation without any say on their part, as soon as they die (in fact, the channelled intelligence known as Ra stated this was exactly the case with earlier phases of humanity, as we shall see).
Metaphysicist William Walker Atkinson writing as “Yogi Ramacharaka,” explained in the early 1900s:
“Much of this process of preparing for reincarnation is performed by the soul unconsciously, in obedience to its inspirations, and desires, as it really has not grown to understand what it all means; and what is before it, and is being swept along by the Law of Attraction almost unconsciously. But after souls attain a certain degree of development, they become conscious of the process of reincarnation, and are thereafter conscious of past lives, and preceding a rebirth may take a conscious part in selecting the environments and surroundings. The higher they rise in the scale, the greater their conscious power, and choice.”
Still, all empirical evidence I have encountered in my research indicates choice as to whether reincarnation will follow a recently ended life. It may be a little of column A and a little of column B, and we should not fear what may well be the entirely natural dynamic of spending a portion of our existence being swept unconsciously back into the stream of earth life—if you’re reading this, it’s likely that part of your journey is done with.
