I want to mention something truly heroic and truly tragic.
If you aren't sure how bad things have become for the people of Palestine under the 7-decade-long reign of terror inflicted by Israel...
...US airman Aaron Bushnell just burned himself alive outside an Israeli embassy to get you to pay attention and snap out of the trance...
Iām not posting the video, you can go and find it if you have the stomach for it and want to see someone die in one of the worst ways possible.
His last words on this earth before the pain became so excruciating that all he could do was scream were:
"Free Palestine!"
First responders couldn't get fire extinguishers on him fast enough.
He died shortly after.
Like over 30,000 Gazans since Sep. 7th when Israel orchestrated its own nine-eleven against its own people. (Yes, it was yet another con to justify pre-planned atrocities and a long-term agenda - you should already know this by now.)
Aaron Bushnell wanted you to see the horrific brutality and suffering in Palestine - so badly that he did something he knew could well be his final act on earth.
Are you watching yet?
Have the scales fallen from your eyes?
What on earth could motivate someone who is part of the US war machine to do such a thing to themselves - unless they had fully witnessed with the DEPTHS OF THEIR SOUL something so truly unspeakable, something so unjust and grotesque...
...that it actually made sense to sacrifice their own life just that you too might truly be willing to witness the repugnant crimes against humanity currently being committed by the illegitimate state of Israel.
Over 12,000 children have been slaughtered since Sep. 7.
Some of them survive the deaths of their entire families - and then have to live through that heart-rending loss and grief... to face what kind of future exactly?
With no parents, no home, and no land to return to.
Why?
So Israel can get its grubby hands on some oil reserves?
Finally purge the "sub-human" enemy from the lands it deludes itself into thinking belong to it?
Win its petty and ridiculous ideological war against a civilian population barely holding on to existence?
I have tended to agree with
People who still don't "get" the Gaza/Palestine situation aren't worth bothering with. They are wilfully ignorant - and sometimes much worse than just ignorant.
But Aaron Bushnell wasn't willing to just give up or be silent.
He burned himself to death for a foreign people so mistreated by state power and corrupt vested interests that he could see no other way to break through our collective numbness and programming.
Is it really so much to ask that we simply open our eyes? Speak for those who can't?
While there are still some children left in the ever-shrinking fragments of the lands of Palestine?
What's happening isn't "complicated". If you think it is, maybe you're just infected with colonialism, imperialism, supremacism, double-standards, and a chronic compassion deficit.
Maybe you have just found a way to justify mass murder in your own reality because, you know, critical thinking when it comes to Israel is somehow magically "anti-semitic"... š
Spare us.
Bless you Aaron Bushnell, I trust you've found your place and peace in the hereafter after your heroic and tragic final deed.
I'm truly sorry you had to suffer such a horrific death - like so many thousands in Palestine who were never given the choice.
Lest we forget.
